Casa Kiin-Ha Rio  was beautifully constructed as a single-family Caribbean retreat with many well-thought out touches with incredible vaulted ceilings. The house is located on a beautifully landscaped and manicured lot of 1,672 sq. meters (.41 acre). Casa Dia is located on a bay with great snorkeling along the beautiful reef 100 meters offshore.

The Kitchen

The kitchen is fully equipped with a 6-burner stainless steel gas oven/range, stainless steel Whirlpool dishwasher, a large refrigerator/freezer with another  freezer in the garage.  The high tech water filtration system is so high-end, that the owners drink provides drinking water directly out of the faucet – no need to buy drinking water!  A large stained concrete island is the perfect place for family and friends to gather, or they can lounge in the open, attached living area.  Food storage is easy with an enclosed pantry and wood cabinets in the kitchen.  The laundry area is equipped with a Whirlpool washer and dryer.

Ceiling fans circulate throughout the home, although wonderful sea breezes flow through the home. Large closets with custom louvered wood doors insure all three bedroom have plenty of storage.  The large lock-out closet downstairs allows the owner a secure place to store their clothing, equipment and personal items while renting out the home.

Casa Dia Rio Indio is built atop a 26,000 liter rainwater-filled cistern that delivers fresh water to the whole house through its high tech water filtration system.  Solar power generates enough power to serve the entire home and is backed-up by a diesel -powered generator.  However, the home will soon be connected to the newly connected electrical grid.

The Caribbean Sea

Only 100 meters offshore, the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef helps protect the coastline from possible turbulent seas.  The coral reef, known as the Mayan Barrier Reef, is the second largest barrier reef in the world – second only to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. The reef extends 965 kilometers (600 miles) from the Yucatan Peninsula to Honduras.  A diver’s and snorkeler’s paradise, the reef is home to 500 species of fish as well as one of the largest colonies of manatees on the planet.  Once or twice per year, giant sea turtles,  may waddle onto the beach in search of premier nesting sites.
